Scientific activities / Dr Reiner Banken becomes HTAi's third president

On July 1, 2007, Dr. Reiner Banken, the Agency Deputy Executive Director, Development and Partnerships, became the third president of HTAi (Health Technology Assessment International). Elected in July 2006 as vice president of this international organization whose mission is to support the development, communication, understanding and use of HTA around the world, Dr. Reiner Banken is succeeding to Dr. Berit Mørland of the Norwegian Centre for Health Technology Assessment.

As part of the theme day on population-based screening held on November 17 at the JASP symposium, four AETMIS researchers presented the findings from their work on screening criteria. That theme day was organized by APOGEE-Net, a network to assist policy making in genetics. The program is available on our Web site, along with the presentations given by the AETMIS researchers. Dr Véronique Déry, AETMIS's Chief Executive Officer and Scientific Director, and Dr Alicia Framarin, Deputy Scientific Director, were both speakers at the 4th Canadian COCHRANE Symposium. This event was held on December 2 and 3, 2005, at the Mont-Royal Center. The overall theme of the Symposium was: Using the best scientific information to guide health decisions.
